Nvidia Pascal GPU has 17 billion transistors

I get that, but what you're suggesting would leave AMD and their OEMS with only penny ante margins until Vega launches.

"Could" be Vega is around the corner and about to put the smack down on 1070s and 1080s, but I doubt it.

BTW, what you call being "impatient" I call being a smart buyer. Cool

I was at the 680 launch when they said, "We're re-defining what is high end".

Well sure, the parts have what is currently high end performance, but the chip size and single six pin power connector tell the tale a bigger chip is coming. Not to mention the rumor articles.

If Rollo Jr has to live with performance somewhere between a 1070 and a 1080 until the new Ti or Titan comes out, I doubt he will care. If he does, I can always step up to a 1080 and I'm not out anything. (actually ahead of the game, no one is buying 1080s for MSRP these days)

I played some Bioshock Infinite on the Classified at 4K today, smooth as silk.
