Ok guys I'm going to say it. It might make sense to wait for Vega. I don't expect Vega to be faster than this new Titan card, however I do expect it to be cheaper and I do think there is a good chance it will be faster than the GTX 1080 seeing as it uses HBM2. AMD seems to put their best technology into the consoles and multiple reports are saying that Vega will be the GPU in the upcoming Xbox Scorpio.
I'm sorry, but $1200USD for a graphics card is completely nuts unless you are some type of professional user. I expect the "Ti" version to cost at least $800-1000USD as well.
If you guys are high end gamers you might want to at least see what AMD can offer with Vega.
I know for me personally I'm probably going with a GTX 1060 as a stop gap solution. It's twice as fast as my old 280x so that will be a nice upgrade for me.

Yeah..Its clear nvidia is having manufacturing issues. The 480 is such a blasting success that it forced nvidia to release the gp102. Wow, amd is unstoppable

This pretty much nails forum chatter everywhere they deem it a viable market to sell to.
There might be a kernel of truth to your post though. NVIDIA might have knowledge of Vega's upcoming release date and have accelerated the Titan/1080Ti to scoop up all the high end sales before Vega sees the light of day.
When Fury X launched it pretty much landed with a "thud" because everyone was still shaking their head in amazement that they just bought Titan X performance for $650.. (myself among them)
Could also be NVIDIA has achieved an "intel like" status with AMD and doesn't even care what they are up to any longer.

NVIDIA has set a price of $1200 for the Titan X Pascal, no not $1199, nope they had to keep that last dollar. Also it went up by 20%, the first Titan X was "only" $999. This pricing might seem crazy to many, but it's not unexpected; NVIDIA owns the high-end market completely, with AMD barely reaching half the performance or efficiency of this card. If you were NVIDIA, wouldn't you exploit that advantage, too? Taking a closer look at Performance per Dollar, we see the card 30% behind GTX 1080, which is not that much if you are in the market for a high-end card and have the money to spend. Titan X Pascal will also give you the highest framerates, no matter which game you play, something that SLI can not guarantee. Apart from pricing, which you either can afford, or you don't, the bigger issue for me is the engineering behind the card. NVIDIA has once again used a cooling solution that can't handle the heat output of the fantastically engineered GPU, resulting in significant loss of performance, and with no custom-board designs available, there is no cure in sight. Well, the only alternative is watercooling; the first blocks are already appearing in the market - this is the way I would go. Build a quiet watercooling solution around Titan X Pascal and it will fly, and still run at low-noise levels.

I doubt I'll be ponying up for the Pascal Titan.
Lots of expenses with the new house, and I bought a $50K pickup truck last week.
Rollo Jr only uses the PC to play Garys Mod, Minecraft, CS GO, and other stuff that isn't really taxing the 980Ti, so the money is better spent elsewhere.
