nVidia 191.07 Driver Test
Introduction
Today I’ll be testing nVidia’s latest official driver (191.07), and I’ll compare it to my previously installed driver (186.18). The games used will be run at the settings I usually play them at. TrAA will be used where possible with SS denoting super-sampling and MS denoting multi-sampling.
As usual, the text charts are color coded and yellow means 186.18 is faster, while red means 191.07 is faster.
nVidia also claims the following performance improvements:
- Up to 12% performance increase in ARMA 2
- Up to 8% performance increase in Batman: Arkham Asylum with GPU PhysX enabled
- Up to 50% performance increase in Call of Juarez: Blood in Bound with SLI enabled
- Up to 14% performance increase in Fallout 3 (indoor scenes) with antialiasing enabled
- Up to 10% performance increase in Far Cry 2 (DX9 version) with antialiasing enabled
- Up to 34% performance increase in Prototype with antialiasing enabled
I’ll be testing Far Cry 2 today along with other games to see if they also show a benefit.
According to nVidia the 2D clock issue has been fixed, and this driver also fixes the profile issue for me. If you’re still having issues with profiles not taking effect, make sure the “use the advanced 3D image settings” option is selected in nVidia’s control panel.
Also if you’re having problems with older OpenGL games crashing, try trimming the OpenGL extension string.
