AMD launches Phenom II 955 and 945 AM3 Processors
AMD has now launched 2 new additions to the Phenom II Lineup. The two new processors launched are Pheom II 955 and 945.
Phenom II 955 works at a clockspeed of 3.2GHz while Phenom II 945 works at 3.0 GHz. Both the CPUs feature 8MB (2MB L2 + 6MB L3) cache. 955 is a black edition part with unlocked multiplier.
A Phenom II CPU along with an ATI graphics card and a motherboard with 7 series chipset form the Dragon Platform. Phenom II 955 and HD 4890 represent the best that the Dragon Platform has to offer.
Both are AM3 socket based processors with support for DDR3 Memory. Due to AMD’s policy of using a CPU socket for as long as possible, these 2 CPUs will work in a AM2+ socket based motherboard with DDR2 memory. However the reverse is not true, AM2+ CPU’s will not work with AM3 socket due to difference in pin count.
