Cooler Master’s ErgoStand keeps your Notebook Cooler with Style
More Features & Specifications:
The NotePal ErgoStand is designed for netbooks as small as 9” or notebook PCs as large as a 17″ widescreen model. Here are the ErgoStand’s features as printed right on the box:
Since notebooks always lack sufficient USB connectors and since the ErgoStand requires one of them to power its cooling fan, Cooler Master has inclided a built-in 4-port USB hub on the side of the ErgoStand for a net gain of three ports. Although Cooler Master includes a USB cable with the ErgoStand, if you require more power from the notebook’s USB port than it can provide, you can always use an optional (not included) AC adapter to power your USB accessories with the built in DC input (as shown below).
On this side (above), you can also see the on-off button for the fan and the variable-speed switch wheel to control the fan’s speed from 700 RPM to 1400 RPM.
Here you can see all of the USB ports are populated with Flash drives of varying shapes and sizes. With the ErgoStand in its default (lowest 6.5 degrees) position, with the least amount of room, you can see that only the smaller USB drives will fit into two of the USB ports. With the ErgoStand in the first up position, this issue vanishes. And you may tilt your ErgoStand to 45 degrees depending on what you require for comfort.
Here are all five positions with this editor’s 17” widescreen Compaq in place:
Here is the ErgoStand from the front:
And now from the side:
Let’s take a look at the specifications.
The 140mm cooling fan is quiet especially on the lowest position. You may also variably adjust its speed from 700 to 1400 R.P.M.s at which point it is a ‘whir’ which is much quieter than the stock cooling in my own Compaq notebook. Let’s turn ErgoStand over and look at the neat cable management afforded by the handles:
The ErgoStand also can be adjusted to fit from 9” netbooks up to 17” widescreen notebook models (as pictured):
It also looks really nice in action.
Now that we have seen how the ErgoStand works and looks, we turn to the most important part of a notebook cooler – its ability to cool.
Nice read. I just passed this onto a colleague who was doing some research on that. He actually bought me lunch since I found it for him! So let me rephrase: Thanks for lunch!
