Core 2 Duo E7200 vs E6300

AVG 8.0 FREE EDITION

AVG 8.0 Free Edition is as it suggests, free and is an anti-virus software distributed by AVG Technologies, formerly known as Grisoft. To set up this test, I selected a folder consisting of my personal DVD backups of software and games with a total size of 201GB. AVG was set to scan this folder and all its contents using the Fast Scan option.

To be quite honest, the results left me dumbfounded.

Although all tests were run several times and results averaged; this test was probably run more than all. I’m left questioning these results but I thought it was practical that I include them nevertheless.  I eventually did so because no matter how much I ran the scans, the time taken wouldn’t vary enough for me to conclude that there was a problem. So I averaged them and the results stand.

This might be something for me to investigate in future or maybe an invitation for AVG Technologies to contact me and tell me something I don’t know. Either way, the E6300 wins here hands down.
