Genius KB-G265 lighted keyboard brings value to gaming
Conclusion
A quality keyboard makes a significant improvement in productivity and enjoyment for any user. We noticed that using our new Genius KB-G265 keyboard made a significant difference to this editor’s ability to Gunzerk at Level 52 in Borderlands 2 DLC over using a generic Logitech keyboard. Also, there were no issues learning the complexities of a new game, Sang-Froid, Tales of Werewolves.
Being able to keep your fingers on the right keys in the most intense firefights (and to be able to quickly see where they must be placed if one has to look), coupled with having a near-instantaneous response to your key presses, often means the difference between life and death in a game.
The Genius KB-G265 keyboard is an excellent value for a compact keyboard that can be easily taken to LAN parties. It is ideal for a gamer who wants a full-sized keyboard and it is also a good choice for a typist.
Pros:
- The Genius KB-G265 full-sized keyboard is solid and built to last. The Blue LEDs add good aesthetics and the wrist rest is practical. It is a handsome and good-looking black gaming keyboard that will compliment any PC.
- The keyboard lights up every key with blue LEDs – on or off. There are 8 extra silver keys for extra visibility and replacement is made easy with an included key puller.
- 8 adjustable function and media keys. The Windows key can be deactivated for gamers.
- The tilt-up is good and the rubber feet keep the keyboard from moving even during heavy gaming.
- Cable management is good.
- This is as good a keyboard for a gamer as it is for a typist. The key presses are accurate, respond instantly and have decent feedback. Anti-Ghosting is a plus for gamers.
- 1-year warranty. Keys are rated for 5 million presses.
Cons
- There are no programmable keys for macros and the Enter key is large
while the Backspace key is small.
- The 4-foot USB cable may be too short for many setups although the Genius KB-G265 is made with excellent cable management in mind.
We give the Genius KB-G265 keyboard our highest recommendation and the ABT Great Value Award. It is a superior well-built and above average entry-level gaming keyboard at a reasonable $40 entry-level price.
It has become our favorite full-sized keyboard and we will be using it for years to come. Recommended!

We explore how it fits in terms of price to performance in view of Nvidia’s just-announced price cuts of the GTX 780 to $499 and the GTX 770 to $329 by the end of this month. By the weekend, we will review the EVGA reference GTX 780 and even run GTX 780 SLI benches for you.
