GT240 brings 96 shaders + GDDR5
To add to a long list of Nvidia related rumors, the latest one is about a card named GT240. Although not much information is available but from what is available it seems that this card will be available in two flavors, one using GDDR5 and the other using GDDR3 memory. It is interesting to note that Nvidia is planning on using GDDR5 memory on it’s current GT200 architecture. But what’s even more perplexing is that the above said card packs in 96 shaders. Adding GDDR5 memory to it would most certainly give it better performance than 128 shader/GDDR3 based GTS 250.
It is my speculation that Nvidia will go with a 128-bit wide memory for the GDDR5 flavor to lower the cost and keep the performance lower than the GTS 250.
