“GTX260 GX2″…will be…GeForce GTX295
The GT200 Tesla core has been updated to the newer 55nm manufacturing process. This evidently provides Nvidia with the thermal headroom needed to develop a dual-GPU card based on the GT200 core.
It has been rumoured for some time that the GTX260 Core 216 would be the chip used for such a card. Well it has now been confirmed that this will in fact be done to create the “GTX260 GX2”. However, it will not go by the naming scheme that we are all used to: 7950 GX2, 9800 GX2. It is expected to be called the GeForce GTX295. The core and memory frequencies are still unknown.
It is expected that the GeForce GTX295 will rival the Radeon HD 4870 X2 for the performance crown.
We await the first showing of the GTX295!!
