SuperTalent SSD $1449, Shocked ? First 512GB in the market, now ?
Competition has been increasing in the SSD Market. Although SSD’s offer great speed, the 2 features that have been bogging them down are their capacity and price. Consumer SSD’s popped up at sizes of 32GB, 64GB, or 80GB. Slowly manufacturers are bringing bigger sized SSD’s to the market. Corsair is bringing a 256GB drive to the market which has pretty respectable speeds compared to Intel’s SSD’s. Toshiba announced the first 512GB SSD at the end of 2008, and A-DATA also showed its XPG Series 512GB SSD at CeBIT 2009, but SuperTalent is the first one to bring 512GB SSD to the market. That’s half a terabyte, enough space to have your OS, your main applications and favorite games on it. But the price is a real downer: $1449. You can build a top of the line PC with that kind of money. The drive features a sequential read speed of 230 MB/s and a sequential write speed of 160 MB/s.
Its already being sold at Superbiiz.
