\/* 468x60, created 11\/11\/09 *\/ google_ad_slot = \"1949837292\"; google_ad_width = 468; google_ad_height = 60;\n\/\/ ]]><\/script><script type=\"text\/javascript\" src=\"http:\/\/pagead2.googlesyndication.com\/pagead\/show_ads.js\"><\/script><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\">We received the NH-DH14 flagship\u00a0CPU cooler from\u00a0Noctua for evaluation before we received our <a href=\"http:\/\/alienbabeltech.com\/main\/?p=29402\">Ivy Bridge Core i7-3770K<\/a>.\u00a0\u00a0 For\u00a0our initial evaluation of the i7-3770K, we used our\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/www.newegg.com\/Product\/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16835103065\" onclick=\"_gaq.push(['_trackEvent', 'outbound-article', 'http:\/\/www.newegg.com\/Product\/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16835103065', 'thirty dollar']);\" >thirty dollar<\/a>\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/alienbabeltech.com\/main\/?p=9811\">Cooler Master Hyper N212+<\/a> to reach 4.2GHz as we were comparing it to our Core i7-920 also at 4.2GHz.\u00a0 Ivy&#8217;s temperatures at 4.2GHz\u00a0are reasonable\u00a0with a budget cooler\u00a0but we are interested in clocking our CPU higher with 5.0GHz being our goal.<\/p>\n<p>At the time of\u00a0our original Ivy Bridge\u00a0evaluation, we were using a mid-tower <a href=\"http:\/\/alienbabeltech.com\/main\/?p=18740\">Cooler Master Elite 430 case<\/a> and a Z77 mATX motherboard &#8211; the\u00a0Gigabyte GA-Z77MX-DH3 Series 7.\u00a0 We had just completed our Ivy Bridge evaluation when <a href=\"http:\/\/alienbabeltech.com\/main\/?p=29519&amp;all=1\">the GTX 690 arrived<\/a> and we needed our\u00a0Core i7-3770K\u00a0to be overclocked further.\u00a0 Although there was barely enough room in our mid-tower,\u00a0we installed our Noctua NH-DH14 anyway, and aimed for clockspeeds as high as\u00a0Ivy could stably reach just for the GTX 690 evaluation.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter  wp-image-30224\" title=\"DH14-GigMB-installed-1\" src=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/alienbabeltech.com\/main\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/06\/DH14-GigMB-installed-1.jpg?resize=384%2C294\" alt=\"\" srcset=\"https:\/\/alienbabeltech.com\/main\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/06\/DH14-GigMB-installed-1.jpg 800w, https:\/\/alienbabeltech.com\/main\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/06\/DH14-GigMB-installed-1-300x229.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 384px) 100vw, 384px\" data-recalc-dims=\"1\" \/><\/p>\n<p>As you can see, Noctua&#8217;s\u00a0NH-DH14 is a beast &#8211; it takes up half of the total area of our motherboard!\u00a0\u00a0However, as Noctua&#8217;s flagship cooler, it is not only expected to be efficient and effective, it is expected to be quiet.\u00a0 With 12 heatpipes\u00a0total in a\u00a0dual fin-stack\u00a0and with dual asymetric fans, it is a very good thing that\u00a0either fan is easy to remove, especially\u00a0to access the memory DIMMs and also its mounting hardware.<\/p>\n<p>Since\u00a0we are testing faster graphics including the GTX 690, we need to increase the speed of our CPU and this evaluation\u00a0is our adventure in overclocking Ivy.\u00a0 Our mATX Gigabyte motherboard was simply too small for\u00a0large\u00a0multi-GPU cards,\u00a0so we upgraded instead\u00a0to a full-size ECS Z77 Gold Series motherboard and a full-tower Thermaltake Overseer RX-I for the bulk of our tests.<\/p>\n<p>Noctua is an Austrian company that specializes in making very quiet, efficient and effective CPU coolers.\u00a0 This is the second time that ABT\u00a0is evaluating Noctua CPU coolers.\u00a0 Over two years ago, we gave high marks to their <a href=\"http:\/\/alienbabeltech.com\/main\/?p=14237\">Noctua NH-U12P SE2 CPU Cooler and NF-P14 FLX 140mm Fan<\/a>.\u00a0 In fact,\u00a0Noctua is using the same NF-P14 FLX 140mm fan together with their NF-P12 120mm fan to asymmetrically cool the dual fin stack of the NH-DH14.\u00a0 The larger 140mm\u00a0fan overhangs the cooler fins\u00a0and helps to cool\u00a0other components on the\u00a0motherboard that would otherwise be starved for air circulation\u00a0as they are\u00a0covered by this large cooler assembly.<\/p>\n<p>Noctua has succeeded in creating some very quiet fans and excellent CPU coolers and\u00a0are able to price them competitively.\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0Also, Noctua\u00a0recently released their\u00a0improved<a href=\"http:\/\/alienbabeltech.com\/main\/?p=28491\">\u00a0NF-F12 PWM fans<\/a>\u00a0which brought even more quiet efficiency to their fans with higher static pressure due to their redesign, and now we get to\u00a0evaluate their flagship NH-DH14\u00a0CPU cooler.<\/p>\n<p>In comparing the last three CPU coolers that we have tested, the 5-heatpipe <a href=\"http:\/\/alienbabeltech.com\/main\/?p=28740\">Thermaltake Frio<\/a> is <a href=\"http:\/\/www.newegg.com\/Product\/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16835106150\" onclick=\"_gaq.push(['_trackEvent', 'outbound-article', 'http:\/\/www.newegg.com\/Product\/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16835106150', '$65.99 at Newegg.com']);\" >$65.99 at Newegg.com<\/a>. The 6-heatpipe\u00a0 <a href=\"http:\/\/alienbabeltech.com\/main\/?p=28740\">Frio OCK<\/a> is currently <a href=\"http:\/\/www.newegg.com\/Product\/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16835106178\" onclick=\"_gaq.push(['_trackEvent', 'outbound-article', 'http:\/\/www.newegg.com\/Product\/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16835106178', '$74.99 at Newegg']);\" >$74.99 at Newegg<\/a> and it\u00a0is\u00a0similarly priced to\u00a0our <a href=\"http:\/\/www.newegg.com\/Product\/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16835608014\" onclick=\"_gaq.push(['_trackEvent', 'outbound-article', 'http:\/\/www.newegg.com\/Product\/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16835608014', 'Noctua NH-U12P-SE2 at Newegg for $75.99']);\" >Noctua NH-U12P-SE2 at Newegg for $75.99<\/a>.\u00a0 However, the Noctua NH-DH14 is considered premium-priced although it is only <a href=\"www.newegg.com\/Product\/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16835608018\">$89.99 at Newegg<\/a> and about the same price at Amazon.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Saving Money on a CPU Cooler<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>As important as saving money on hardware is, this editor believes that the choice of a CPU cooler is critical to any PC build. The cooler should never be cheap or retail. Too much depends on it if you value keeping your CPU cool\u00a0and especially if you plan to overclock. It is highly recommended that you instead look for sales and use rebates to save money.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\">This review is not just about \u201cvalue\u201d and rock-bottom pricing. A quality universal CPU cooler\u00a0may be\u00a0used for years and can be moved from build to build.\u00a0 If you want to cool a Phenom II X4 or even an X6, a value CPU cooler such as a <a href=\"http:\/\/alienbabeltech.com\/main\/?tag=hyper-n212\">Coolermaster Hyper N 212+<\/a> will suffice. Even Intel Sandy Bridge and Ivy Bridge CPUs such as Core i5 and Core i7 run relatively cool until you begin to push the core speeds up to about 4.5GHz or so.\u00a0 Here is the NH-DH14 compared side-by-side with a Cooler Master Hyper N212+<img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter  wp-image-30220\" title=\"DH14-CM-1\" src=\"https:\/\/i2.wp.com\/alienbabeltech.com\/main\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/06\/DH14-CM-1.jpg?resize=432%2C341\" alt=\"\" srcset=\"https:\/\/alienbabeltech.com\/main\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/06\/DH14-CM-1.jpg 800w, https:\/\/alienbabeltech.com\/main\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/06\/DH14-CM-1-300x237.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 432px) 100vw, 432px\" data-recalc-dims=\"1\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Unless you are supplying a relatively high voltage to most CPUs, a budget quality cooler will work nicely. Even stock heatsinks are evolving to keep up with the hotter running quad-core and hex-core CPUs. Of course, the FX series of AMD CPUs almost require watercooling or a high-end air cooler and a very beefy power supply unit (PSU) if you are really serious about <a href=\"http:\/\/alienbabeltech.com\/main\/?p=28491\">a Bulldozer overclock in excess of 4.4GHz as we were<\/a>.\u00a0 And the clocks that we are attempting to hit with Ivy Bridge are also\u00a0going to require some serious voltage and cooling that only a premium air or water cooler can provide.<\/p>\n<p>CPU core temperatures go up especially as more voltage is applied to get more MHz and more performance.\u00a0 With our Ivy Bridge Core i7-3770K, the core stays relatively cool\u00a0with stock voltage up to 4.2GHz and any decent cooler will do.\u00a0 However, to get clocks over 4.5GHz, it takes disportionately more voltage for each 100MHz gained and the temperatures rise quickly, overwhelming ordinary coolers.\u00a0 And this is why these premium air coolers like the Noctua NH-DH-14 are\u00a0necessary to keep temperatures down so as to squeeze every bit of performance out of an overclocked CPU.<\/p>\n<p>What differentiates\u00a0Noctua from other high-end coolers, is <em>quiet<\/em> cooling.\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0For about ninety dollars, the NH-DH14\u00a0is a\u00a0complete package that offers everything you need to cool your overclocked CPU, including thermal paste.\u00a0 A relatively large tube of Noctua\u2019s professional grade NT-H1 thermal compound is included.<img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter\" src=\"https:\/\/i2.wp.com\/alienbabeltech.com\/main\/wp-content\/uploads\/2009\/12\/arcsil_noc_thcomp.jpg?resize=440%2C191\" alt=\"\" data-recalc-dims=\"1\" \/><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Heat is drawn away from the CPU by the base of the heatsink and is transferred up into the array of hi-grade aluminum fins for dissipation.\u00a0One 120mm fan spins\u00a0on one side of the heatsink fins array in a \u201cpush-pull\u201d configuration with a 140mm fan in the center of the two fin stacks; blowing\u00a0cooling air through the heatsink fins.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter  wp-image-30233\" title=\"DH14-view-4\" src=\"https:\/\/i2.wp.com\/alienbabeltech.com\/main\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/06\/DH14-view-4.jpg?resize=432%2C482\" alt=\"\" srcset=\"https:\/\/alienbabeltech.com\/main\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/06\/DH14-view-4.jpg 800w, https:\/\/alienbabeltech.com\/main\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/06\/DH14-view-4-269x300.jpg 269w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 432px) 100vw, 432px\" data-recalc-dims=\"1\" \/>The NH-DH14 ships with\u00a0Noctua&#8217;s multi-socket mounting system that is\u00a0one of the\u00a0easiest and\u00a0most\u00a0straightforward installations that\u00a0we have ever encountered for any Socket, including\u00a01155.\u00a0 It\u00a0is also adapted for 1156 and 775 platforms and Intel&#8217;s latest extreme 6-core CPUs as well as AMD socket AM2, AM2+ and AM3\/AM3+ platforms.<\/p>\n<p>Before we\u00a0test the Noctua cooler to get Ivy&#8217;s clockspeed as high as possible, let&#8217;s unbox, install, and test them individually using <a href=\"http:\/\/www.ocbase.com\/\" onclick=\"_gaq.push(['_trackEvent', 'outbound-article', 'http:\/\/www.ocbase.com\/', 'OCCT 4.1 ']);\" >OCCT 4.1 <\/a>as an extreme test to load all of the cores of our CPU at 100%.<\/p>\n<p align=\"center\"><script type=\"text\/javascript\">\/\/ <![CDATA[\n                                           google_ad_client = \"pub-7021221536180758\"; \/* 468x60, created 11\/11\/09 *\/ google_ad_slot = \"1949837292\"; google_ad_width = 468; google_ad_height = 60;\n\/\/ ]]><\/script><\/p>\n<p><!--pagetitle: Introduction--><!--nextpage--><!--pagetitle: Unboxing &#038; Installation--><\/p>\n<h2><strong>The Unboxing and Installation<\/strong><\/h2>\n<p>The\u00a0Noctua NH-DH14 arrives\u00a0in a cardboard box packed with everything necessary to cool any modern CPU that you may buy. The end user should only use a dab of\u00a0Noctua&#8217;s thermal compound; specifically, a drop 4-5 mm in diameter in the center of the\u00a0heat sink\u00a0contact plate. It looks like we may have a performance cool and quiet winner by the specifications and by\u00a0the look and feel of this precision-built CPU cooler. The NH-DH14\u00a0cooler looks\u00a0great. The last time we ran a comparison, we got our Core i7-3770K to 4.2 GHz on the entry-level Cooler Master Hyper N212 plus cooler. However, the temperatures were a little high when we attempted 4.4GHz and a no-go at 4.6GHz on any synthetic test like OCCT that really stresses the CPU.\u00a0 But we want a higher overclock than a budget cooler can provide.<\/p>\n<p>Let\u2019s take a look at our setup:<\/p>\n<h2><strong>The Setup and the Test <\/strong><\/h2>\n<h3><strong>Test Configuration<\/strong><\/h3>\n<ul>\n<li>Intel Core i7-3770K (stock, 3.50GHz) overclocked to 4.2GHz, 4.4GHz, 4,6GHz and at 4.8GHz<\/li>\n<li>ECS Z77 H2-A2X (shipping BIOS,\u00a0USB 3.0\/PCIe 3.0\u00a0specification; CrossFire or SLI 8x + 8x)<\/li>\n<li>Gigabyte GA-Z77MX-DH3 Series 7 (shipping BIOS, USB\/PCIe 3.0 specification; CrossFire or SLI 8x + 8x)<\/li>\n<li>4\u00a0GB Kingston DDR3-PC1866 RAM at 1866MHz (2\u00d72 GB in dual-channel; supplied by Kingston)<\/li>\n<li>GTX 680, 2GB, reference clocks, supplied by Nvidia<\/li>\n<li>GTX 690, 4GB, reference clocks, supplied by Nvidia<\/li>\n<li>500 GB Seagate Barracuda 7200.2 hard drive<\/li>\n<li>ToughPowerXT 775 W power supply (supplied by Thermaltake)<\/li>\n<li>Noctua NH-DH14 Universal Cooler (supplied by Noctua)<\/li>\n<li>Elite 430 mid tower case (supplied by Cooler Master)<\/li>\n<li>Hyper N212 Plus CPU Cooler (supplied by Cooler Master)<\/li>\n<li>Overseer RX-I full-tower case (supplied by Thermaltake)<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h3><strong>Test Configuration \u2013 Software<\/strong><\/h3>\n<ul>\n<li><strong> <\/strong>GeForce WHQL\u00a0301.42 Driver; high quality filtering and optimizations off<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul>\n<li>Windows\u00a07 64-bit SP1; very latest updates<\/li>\n<li>DirectX latest.<\/li>\n<li>All games are patched to their latest versions.<\/li>\n<li>Highest quality sound (stereo) used in all games.<\/li>\n<li>Vista 64, all DX10 titles were run under DX10 render paths<\/li>\n<li>OCCT 4.1<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<h2><strong>The Test<\/strong><\/h2>\n<p>Here is our Noctua cooler with the CPU\u00a0after 25 minutes\u00a0under full load\u00a0with everything at stock speeds and on &#8220;auto&#8221;.\u00a0 Turbo is properly applied to hit\u00a03.7GHz across all 4 cores and will run one core up to 3.9GHz.\u00a0 Temperatures are good reaching the mid to upper 50sC under full load.<img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter\" title=\"OCCT-Stock-1\" src=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/alienbabeltech.com\/main\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/06\/OCCT-Stock-1.jpg?resize=480%2C419\" alt=\"\" data-recalc-dims=\"1\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Now we\u00a0raise our CPU\u00a0speed to 3.9GHz and note that the temperatures are up a few degrees to mid-60sC even though the voltage is left on &#8220;auto&#8221; and it pulls a little more wattage than at stock.<img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter\" title=\"occt-4.0GHz-1\" src=\"https:\/\/i1.wp.com\/alienbabeltech.com\/main\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/06\/occt-4.0GHz-1.jpg?resize=480%2C278\" alt=\"\" data-recalc-dims=\"1\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Now we boost our voltage by .03V and up our clockspeeds to 4.2GHz. This is\u00a0 where the Cooler Master Hyper N212+ started to see some temperature increases and we are seeing temperatures just below 70C with our Noctua NH-DH-14 when all the cores are fully loaded.\u00a0 So far, so good for both coolers!<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter\" title=\"occt-4.2GHz-1\" src=\"https:\/\/i1.wp.com\/alienbabeltech.com\/main\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/06\/occt-4.2GHz-1.jpg?resize=480%2C280\" alt=\"\" data-recalc-dims=\"1\" \/><\/p>\n<p>To increase our clockspeeds to 4.4GHz, we did not need to add any voltage and the temperatures rose by only +2C over 4.2GHz.\u00a0 At this point, our Cooler Master Hyper 212+\u00a0began reaching temperatures above 80C.\u00a0 At 4.4GHz is where we began to see differentiation between a budget and a premium cooler.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter\" title=\"occt-4.4GHz-1\" src=\"https:\/\/i1.wp.com\/alienbabeltech.com\/main\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/06\/occt-4.4GHz-1.jpg?resize=480%2C421\" alt=\"\" data-recalc-dims=\"1\" \/><\/p>\n<p>To reach 4.6GHz took a bit more voltage to stabilize it, but the temperatures did not rise appreciably over 4.6Ghz with the NH-DH14, so we will continue to see how far we can go.\u00a0 In contrast, our Hyper N212+ had given up on anything over 4.4GHz as\u00a0the OCCT\u00a0test was now shutting down at 90C! at 4.6GHz after a few seconds.\u00a0 Now we need a premium cooler to get the maximum overclock out of our quickly-becoming-hot CPU.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter\" title=\"occy-4.6GHz-1\" src=\"https:\/\/i2.wp.com\/alienbabeltech.com\/main\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/06\/occy-4.6GHz-1.jpg?resize=480%2C418\" alt=\"\" data-recalc-dims=\"1\" \/><\/p>\n<p>\u00a0At 4.8GHz, we required a solid voltage boost of +.013V to +0.15V to achieve a stable overclock and the temperatures on a couple of cores rose into the low-80sC.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter\" title=\"occt-4.7GHz-max\" src=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/alienbabeltech.com\/main\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/06\/occt-4.7GHz-max.jpg?resize=480%2C421\" alt=\"\" data-recalc-dims=\"1\" \/><\/p>\n<p>At 4.8GHz at idle, the temperatures are great which\u00a0lead us to believe that we could get much more.<img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter\" title=\"occt-4.8GHz-idle\" src=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/alienbabeltech.com\/main\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/06\/occt-4.8GHz-idle.jpg?resize=480%2C280\" alt=\"\" data-recalc-dims=\"1\" \/><\/p>\n<p>At this point, when we were about to change out our motherboard, we realized that we had reversed the two fans in the NH-DH14 cooler so that the air flow was coming\u00a0from the back of the case to the front!\u00a0 The Noctua&#8217;s CPU cooler fans were competing with the case&#8217;s rear exhaust fan for air flow.\u00a0\u00a0We realize that the temperature\u00a0delta between the premium Noctua NH-DH14 and the budget\u00a0Cooler Master is even greater than the preceeding tests indicate.<\/p>\n<p>Retesting with the full-sized ECS motherboard in the Thermaltake Overseer RX-I full-tower now show temperatures at 4.8GHz\u00a0now remain below 80C, or about 4C cooler!\u00a0 Of course, some of the thermal improvement was due to the\u00a0full tower\u00a0case&#8217;s superior air flow over the mid-tower&#8217;s.<img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter\" title=\"occt-4.8GHz-max1\" src=\"https:\/\/i1.wp.com\/alienbabeltech.com\/main\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/06\/occt-4.8GHz-max1.jpg?resize=480%2C421\" alt=\"\" data-recalc-dims=\"1\" \/><\/p>\n<p>So now that we have everything working properly in a large full-tower case and\u00a0with very decent temperatures for idle as well as with all cores fully loaded, we\u00a0tried for 4.9GHz and found that we ran into a wall.\u00a0 Using both the Gigabyte and the ECS motherboard, NO amount of added voltage would allow us to go any higher.<\/p>\n<p>It may be limitations of the CPU itself or perhaps\u00a0some motherboard settings are holding us back from a higher overclock &#8211; but the issues are not thermal.\u00a0\u00a0Even though\u00a0we got great temperatures with\u00a0our Noctua NH-DH14 that we could not dream about with our budget Cooler Master Hyper 212+ , we still cannot\u00a0reach higher speeds than 4.8GHz with our Core i7-3770K.\u00a0 Of course, 4.8GHz is a very decent overclock for Ivy Bridge!<\/p>\n<p>We will revisit overclocking again with our newest motherboard, the EVGA Z77 FTW and the Noctua NH-DH14, when we evaluate it for you later on this week and we shall also throw watercooling into the mix\u00a0with the Thermaltake Water2.0 Pro.\u00a0 In the meantime, we now have a completely stable Core i7-3770K at 4.8GHz with decent temperatures remaining below 80C when all cores are fully loaded thanks to the great cooling of the Noctua NH-DH14.\u00a0 Best of all, the fan speed remains stock and ultra-quiet!\u00a0 When gaming we rarely reach temperatures\u00a0above the low-70sC and we never hear our Noctua CPU cooling\u00a0fans while gaming.<\/p>\n<p>Let&#8217;s head for our conclusion.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><!--nextpage--><!--pagetitle: Conclusion--><\/p>\n<p><strong>The Conclusion<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>When it comes to <em>quietly<\/em> cooling your overclocked hot Intel or AMD CPU efficiently and quietly,\u00a0Noctua is the company to turn to. If you have a Core i7 or i5, or a hot-running FX processor that you really want to push to its maximum overclock by safely using air-cooling without offending your ears, the\u00a0NH-DH14 should be one of your first considerations.\u00a0 It is one of the very best designed premium CPU air coolers that money can buy that comes in a complete universal kit that\u00a0boasts one of the easiest and most secure installations ever.<\/p>\n<h3><strong>Pros: <\/strong><\/h3>\n<ul>\n<li>Noctua&#8217;s\u00a0NH-DH14 CPU cooler is an excellent high-end cooler that provides superb and *quiet* cooling &#8211; well above\u00a0any bidget cooler&#8217;s\u00a0ability to cool\u00a0an overclocked\u00a0CPU<\/li>\n<li>A brilliant design simplifies installation for such a large cooler;\u00a0without a doubt,\u00a0the easiest large CPU cooler installation to date!<\/li>\n<li>Everything is included for installation including premium thermal compound and a\u00a0screwdriver.<\/li>\n<li>Instructions are clear and well-written<\/li>\n<li>The NH-DH14\u00a0is very quiet at\u00a0stock fan speeds and may be made even quieter using U.L.N.A.included adapters\u00a0to drop the fans&#8217; rotational speed down from 1300 rpm to 900 rpm<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h3><strong>Cons:<\/strong><\/h3>\n<ul>\n<li>It&#8217;s really large.\u00a0 Make sure it will fit inside your case.<\/li>\n<li>Not a con; however, we would like to see more color choices.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<h2><strong>The Verdict<\/strong><\/h2>\n<p>Noctua&#8217;s universal NH-DH14\u00a0CPU cooler is an excellent\u00a0and supremely\u00a0quiet cooler for a reasonable price considering its 6-heatpipe per dual-fin build, ease of installation, and all-inclusive package.
