Comparing that to a $99 dollar price tag for every memory tier that Apple offered it is a steal.<\/p>\n<p>The two major differences lie in storage and device support. Kingston discontinued the 16Gb model that was available at <a href=\"http:\/\/www.newegg.com\/Product\/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16820139597\" onclick=\"_gaq.push(['_trackEvent', 'outbound-article', 'http:\/\/www.newegg.com\/Product\/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16820139597', 'Newegg for $49.99']);\" >Newegg for $49.99<\/a> when we first reviewed the device. A 64GB edition is priced at around $89.99. The highest memory model, with an amazing 128GB, is available for $149.99.<\/p>\n<p>An iPhone 5 with 16GB onboard will run you about $200 (on contract or an upgrade) plus taxes and so forth. A 32GB model will run you $299 and 64GB for $399.<\/p>\n<p>Android models vary, but generally they feature the same memory options. Some models thankfully feature a microSD slot to help with storage.<\/p>\n<p>What does one do with 64GB of data? HD cameras create HD photos and videos, apps and games take up a lot of memory as shown below, movies, music, and so on take up all your space in no time.<\/p>\n<p>My iTunes currently holds 14.9GB of music alone.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" style=\"float: none; margin-left: auto; display: block; margin-right: auto;\" alt=\"image thumb8 Kingston\u2019s Wi Drive revisited. It can even be used as a regular USB drive that your phone can then instantly access without lag.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" style=\"float: none; margin-left: auto; display: block; margin-right: auto;\" alt=\"image thumb5 Kingston\u2019s Wi Drive revisited. What\u2019s changed?\" src=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/alienbabeltech.com\/main\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/03\/image_thumb5.png?resize=350%2C404\" data-recalc-dims=\"1\" \/><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Our biggest gripe with the old model was the heat production and relatively short battery life because of the components within the Wi-Drive.<\/p>\n<p>Unfortunately the over heating issue is still here. It takes a bit longer to get super hot, but it gets there. Kingston\u2019s spec sheets give the Wi-Drive a max operating temperature of 122\u00b0F.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" style=\"float: none; margin-left: auto; display: block; margin-right: auto;\" alt=\"image thumb6 Kingston\u2019s Wi Drive revisited. What\u2019s changed?\" src=\"https:\/\/i1.wp.com\/alienbabeltech.com\/main\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/03\/image_thumb6.png?resize=350%2C465\" data-recalc-dims=\"1\" \/><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>The Wi-Drive can only be used for around 4 hours, something we wish Kingston focuses on the next go around.<\/p>\n<p>We experienced about 4-4.5 hours. This is decent, considering the capabilities, but it could last longer.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p align=\"center\"><span style=\"font-size: large;\"><strong><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">Mobile Application<\/span><\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p>Using the Wi-Drive in conjunction with your smart phone or device was the same experience as the old one.<\/p>\n<p>The free Wi-Drive app uses a nice UI. It is simple to open and use without the hassle of complicated menus.<\/p>\n<p>Folders can be set with your PC such as music, pictures, presentations and so on. Streaming and accessing this set content once on the device took little effort.<\/p>\n<p>The app allows you to set up a private network for your own use or to log into another to create a simple place for people to go that want to access the drive.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p align=\"center\"><img decoding=\"async\" alt=\"IMG 1441 thumb Kingston\u2019s Wi Drive revisited. What\u2019s changed?\" src=\"https:\/\/i2.wp.com\/alienbabeltech.com\/main\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/03\/IMG_1442_thumb.png?w=720\" data-recalc-dims=\"1\" \/><\/p>\n<p>If you are a business man with hundreds of files that you need access to, then simply turn on the Wi-drive and allow others to connect to your setup network.<\/p>\n<p>Complete with its own SSID and security (WEP or WPA). The Wi-Drive allows simultaneous use with up to 3 different people.<\/p>\n<p>Reiterating our original review of the Wi-Drive, you should think of the drive as a portable router with 128gb of storage.<\/p>\n<p>The worst part of the whole \u201cWi-Drive app\u201d experience is the time wasted in committing every single change to this network.<\/p>\n<p>It still takes 60 seconds.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" style=\"float: none; margin-left: auto; display: block; margin-right: auto;\" alt=\"image thumb7 Kingston\u2019s Wi Drive revisited. It is very satisfying to have 128GB of precious files in the palm of your hand.<\/p>\n<p>Kingston\u2019s Wi-Drive continues to impress.
