It may very well be so. iPhone 3GS user KhenaKara was recording his friends by the pool when he accidently dropped the phone in the pool. As he was recording at the time it dropped, the phone continued to record the video while underwater. Upon taking out the phone from the water, the iPhone still works perfectly even days after the drop.
