In the USA, the only "live" tv services we have are Vue and Sling TV, both are as I've described Vue.
There are roughly 84m cable and satellite subcribers in the US:

There are 124m households in the US:

So 40m of us have no live sports, news, weather alerts without OTA digital tuners.
I should note the largest issue with that tv is the poor performance and image quality. I only noted the tuner because it's an issue for cord cutters.
