I don't know rollo. There was a time not so long ago that the forums were way more than a marketing tool. They were full of real people who had a common interest in technology. Geeks.
For the most part, the world was lonely for people who loved the technology and we're excited about computers. Connecting online with others, it was satisfying. Bulletin Boards grew into forums.
This was a very real and amassing connection. For the longest time, it was mostly just regular people. Marketing invaded but it still was a place to connect with others. there were far more regular people.
I have no idea how many people you guys had on your team but even at your highest, the forums were nothing like they are today.
Things have never been to this degree. I blame the aggressive AMD flooding of advocates and the raise in other popular forms of social media, forums have sunk and sunk to the worthless state they are today.
There is no fight these days, AMD has sunk and its to the point that their gpu segment has ended up just as bad in shape as their cpu. Intel is to amd what nvidia is to amds gpu department.
This bickering and fighting on forums is artificial. Very few people buy AMD gpus. No one plays AoTs.
It's not even that async works great in RTS games, it's just an implementation that was tailor made to try to exploit specific a GCN function. The entire game/benchmark was built just for that. The graphics are so terrible they could be reproduced on a Sega dreamcast. Probably a ds.
It's not a good game, it's not catching on. No one plays it but it's in every sites benchmark suit and is talked about in every forum on Andy page dealing with nvidia.
It's just a fake conversation. An AMD marketing creation they use in their slides and at their event. They have their ultra huge forum force use this info and they repeat the same nonsense...say the same things just a million different ways. The same thing, across the sites, across the globe, in different languages.
And ben, there is no doubt in my mind that the mods are 100% in on it, at least on certain sites. Especially Anand. It's not that they are dumb
