Nvidia’s GTX 650 Ti arrives to round out the Kepler line-up
Performance summary charts & graphs
Here are the summary charts of 24 modern PC games and 3 synthetic tests. The highest playable settings are generally chosen and it is DX11 when there is a choice; DX10 is picked above DX9, and the settings are generally maxed unless specified on the chart. Specific settings including AA are listed on the Main Performance chart. The benches are run at 1920×1200 and 1680×1050.
Main Overall Summary chart
In the first three columns of the main performance summary chart, the GTX 650 Ti is tested at Nvidia reference clocks (Column 1) and also overclocked (2) and next to a single stock HD 7750 (3) for comparison; next (column 4) is a single GTX 550 Ti, next to a HD 7770 GHz edition (in column 5) and overclocked to Sapphire’s Vapor-X speeds (6). In the last 4 columns where some of the games use more demanding settings (highlighted on the chart in bold), the GTX 660 is featured (column 7) next to a stock HD 7850 (column 8), compared again at higher settings to the stock GTX 650 Ti (column 9) and then at our highest overclock available in the last column (10).
(Far Cry 2 does not run properly on Catalyst 12-8 so the HD 77×0/7850 were tested using Catalyst 12-4*; in Max Payne 3, the HD 7770 and the GTX 550 Ti/GTX 650 Ti cannot run MSAA with only 1GB of vRAM; FXAA on high was used for the lesser setting of columns 1-6).
Above is the master chart and it has not been made into a graph as there is too much information to put onto it. Make sure to open it in a full window or tab if the chart is too hard to read.
All results, except for Vantage and 3DMark11, show average framerates and higher is always better. In-game settings are fully maxed out and they are identically high or ultra across all platforms.
In every single case, the GTX 650 Ti at reference speeds beats the competing highly clocked Vapor-X HD 7770 even when it is overclocked to the highest factory overclock available! This is a blow-out win for the GTX 650 Ti.
We also see the Kepler GTX 650 handily beating the last generation Fermi GTX 550 Ti although it is completely outclassed by the HD 7850 and the GTX 660 which are both more expensive cards. Also, in all cases, the GTX 660 is faster than the GTX 650 Ti although overclocked in a few games, the GTX 650 Ti comes relatively close. From its performance results, the GTX 650 Ti is a good value for $149 which is about $70 less than the more expensive GTX 660. The HD 7850 also is a twenty to over forty dollars more expensive card that is generally faster than even the overclocked GTX 650 Ti except for a couple of games.
Let’s head for our conclusion.
This game bundle really sets off the 650ti. Anyone looking to buy Assassins creed 3 should consider this card. Honestly there are few who wont be interest in this game. The 650ti could be had for only $89 if you take out the $60 for Assassins creed 3. Thats a tremendous value. Even if you already have a great GPU, for $89 more you could have a dedicated physX card. That is a good deal.
