AMD’s Fusion Render Cloud in action

by MrK on Jun.17, 2009, under News

Recently AMD announced that they had teamed up with a comapny called OTOY to render games "in the cloud," which is just a fancy way of saying that the graphics rendering would be done on a server somewhere and the data would be streamed to your browser where you will be able to play the game like you would on your PC. In this way you won’t need any plugins or graphics hardware. All you need is a broadband connection and a browser.

TechCrunch posted a video of Render cloud in action which can be viewed below.

This technology has interesting prospects. It would allow any device connected to a  high speed internet to play the game. In the video, he mentions that there is some very minute lag but it shouldn’t affect single player experience.
