Big GPU Shootout – Revisited
Vantage
Vantage is Futuremark’s latest test. It is really useful for tracking changes in a single system – especially driver changes. There are two mini-game tests, Jane Nash and Calico and also two CPU tests, but we are still focusing on the graphics performance.
Here is a scene from Vantage’s second mini-game.
Let’s go right to the graphs and first check the Basic Tests with the default benchmark scores:
We see more scores. Now let’s look at the mini-game frame rates:
Our HD 2900 XT refused to complete this synthetic test. The 9800 GT sits at the bottom of the rankings with the GTS 250 edging it out while the 8800 GTX of the generation before it, is a stronger performer. The HD 4870 is beaten solidly by the HD 4890 and in turn by the GTX 280. The top three spots have TriFire 4870-X2+4820 as the king here, followed by HD 4890 CrossFire and our HD 4870-X2. Enough of the synthetics as we move on to PC games and real world situations!
