A look at Sapphire’s 1Ghz 4890 Atomic Edition
AMD/ATI’s HD4890 was built with with overclocking in mind. Anything that could be done to enhance overclocking was done. For the first time in history a GPU company released two versions of the same card, one stock and one overclocked. This encouraged AIB partners to release their own versions with higher clock frequencies and better cooling. Now we are are starting to see the fruits of their labors. At least MSI and Sapphire have announced their plans to release HD4890’s with 1000 MHz stock core frequencies, which is 150 MHz over the stock model.
The guys at Overclock3D.net got an exclusive look at Sapphire’s HD4890 Atomic Edition which comes with 1000 MHz on the core. These cards are expected to be shown at Computex in Taiwan next week.
