Google play does not wait, and there have been some some random and unexpected games and apps coming out of Developerville. We sift through thousands of titles in order to bring you a good download. This time around we feature a game in the vein of Limbo, a dolphin with a rainbow trail, a running ninja chicken and more … they have so much in common!

The name hints at the greatness of this game – Peti stands for People for the Ethical Treatment of Invaders.
From Level Up Studio, the people behind Beautiful Widgets, Peti’s gameplay is reminiscent of Dr.Mario. Except Peti has some fantastic art design, cut scenes, and goofy look to it that just keeps you playing. For those who have never played Dr.Mario, the basics of the game include matching dropping colored boxes to the “invaders.” Stack a couple and the invader is able to escape this planet – that’s right, escape.
As the player you’re working towards earning experience in order to buy special powers to help the invaders escape. The more you play, the funner the game gets. The specials help keep the game interesting and overall, Peti is worth checking out.
Guns, great music, near perfect controls, being a hero … One Epic Game has it all.
* 5 worlds you have definitely seen before in other games!
* Story mode, challenges and a free run mode!
* Over 30 awards to unlock.
* Great graphics and a pumping soundtrack.
* Tongue-in-cheek story and humor.
OEG runs on the upgrade with in-game currency model, and the user fortunately has the chance to enjoy the game without really needing to “pay” to upgrade. You earn “epic points” throughout playing the game in order to unlock more guns, checkpoints and so on.
The worlds are very interesting to say the least. The humor and the overall feeling you get from these types of games is great. Different weapons make the game ultra-replayable and killing zombies in a post-apocalyptic wasteland is always a good time.
The above photo needed to be put up before writing anything as the name Hamlet can put you off from even trying this game. But the dorky atmosphere, the look of the characters and the story behind this game is so well told, you’d be unfortunate to miss this game.
The audio and art direction is superb and the gameplay is challenging and fun at the same time. Hamlet’s gameplay centers around you attempting to enter the next level by passing a puzzle. The first puzzle is entering a castle by figuring out how to sneak in.
The puzzles are interaction-based; you need to turn on a fan, change the weather, etc. in order to figure out the puzzle.
The developer says : “Hamlet is a cure for boredom and a workout for your brain. To play or not to play that is a good question!” Lets go ahead and say, Yes! Humor, comic-book storytelling, puzzle gameplay, old-school art direction and help make Hamlet a fun little game.
A chicken who thinks it is a ninja because of dementia, not just any ninja – the BEST ninja there ever was.
It makes us laugh just typing that out. The game is nothing fantastic as it’s just a silly “run and jump over obstacles” type of game. The recommendation comes out of pure enjoyment – sometimes there are games just so weird that they become fun to play for awhile. Just download it, have your moment, and then immediately forget the game. That is its purpose, right?
Oscura is the story of a lighthouse keeper and a lighthouse that has had it’s light blown out by dark forces. You must travel there and survive in order to restore the light. On these travels, you encounter monsters, traps, and just about anything that can kill you.
The atmosphere of Limbo is definitely here, but its presented in a much different way. Oscura is inventive in its obstacles and mechanics. The controls are touch-based which can become a bit awkward when attempting quick movements. But they do work, and they need to because this game requires some finesse and agility on those controls.
Through gameplay you gain “light shards” to gain slow time in order to pass obstacles easier. We won’t give away too much but the adventure gets better and better as you go, and also more difficult.
This $0.99 game from MTV networks, delivers great atmosphere and creative and enjoyable gameplay. This is 2D platforming done right.
By the picture of that dolphin with a rainbow trail, you can take it one of two ways – OMG CUTE, or OMG CUTE. We’re kidding, of course.
Sea Stars is a running forever type of game except with a dolphin and the sea. These games have always been dependent heavily on art directions and varying options to keep them interesting. After awhile they become stale if they don’t do this well. Think Temple Run and Jetpack Joyride which both have this model perfectly done. Sea Stars has an extremely goofy and entertaining art direction behind it coupled with a fun and colorful world to swim in.
Sea Stars has the right audio, the moments of on-screen amazement, and the proper upgrades to keep it on our device.
The dolphin is hilarious, making *durrr* faces every so often and gaining a rainbow trail when a player begins to gain speed and constant correct swimming. One touch controls the dolphin, as well as to dive and to jump in the air. Using this, you must avoid obstacles and obtain treasures from clam shells. Coins are used in the store to buy upgrades and more characters, Sea Stars is on our short-list for quick entertainment.
Amazing Alex (Free/Multiple paid versions)
Famous for Angry Birds, Rovio’s newest game, Amazing Alex, is basically Casey’s Contraptions re-branded. Get an object into a basket with tools, or make a balloon hit other things with wooden panels creating its path, is the type game this boils down too.
What makes this game reach the top of the charts now is its charm, the complexity and fun that you can expect from Rovio, and watching your chain reactions come alive.
Rovio’s Angry Birds had levels upon levels that had different ways to kill those pigs in creative ways and getting birds in just the right locations. Amazing Alex captures some of those “just right” elements and takes some creativity and brain power to complete.
For almost 3 dollars, the game can be yours in HD; $0.99 for the standard version and there is also a free version for you to try.
Feel free to recommend titles for us to try, including paid apps and games, in the comment section below. We only recommend titles that offer some great experiences to pass the time, nothing sucks more than downloading or paying for a title and having it be terrible.
