A look at the AMD Athlon II X2 250
Here is the die shot of the Athlon II codenamed ‘Regor’. The CPU runs at 3.0 GHz, carries a TDP of 65 Watts and is expected to give competition to Intel’s E5400.
Here is the AM3 socket compatible AMD Athlon II X2 250 CPU. It features a DDR3+DDR2 controller. As a result it can work in AM2+ motherboards too. It uses 938 contact pins to interface with the AM3 socket.
You might be disappointed to know that the Athlon series feature no Black Edition parts which means that these CPUs will have their multipliers locked. The “Black Edition” title will be reserved only for Phenom I & II lineup.
