AMD preparing an Atom Beater for 2010
AMD has maintained that they do not intend to compete in the netbook segment of the market, instead they are trying to offer low cost ultra-thin portables. But in a recent interview AMD’s Dirk Meyer revealed that they are preparing a lower power, cheaper, smaller platform than Intel’s Atom. They expect the partners to get the samples in 2010. Dirk also maintained that this new platform would be for notebooks and not netbooks. He said that the term ‘netbook’ would disappear in future as the segment is becoming blurrier when compared to notebooks.
