AMD Radeon HD 6970 performance……leak?
The speculation begins! The upcoming AMD Radeon HD 6970 is now in the spotlight after the launch of the 68×0 cards. They HD 6970 is said to be at least 10% faster than a GTX 480 and this is achieved with unfinished drivers.
The core speeds are reported to be somewhere around 800 – 900MHz. The card has a 6 + 8 pin power connection setup and there are estimates of a 255W TDP, maybe higher.
It is being rumoured that the HD 6970 is scoring X12000 and P24499 in 3D Mark Vantage.
Unigine Heaven is getting 36.6 fps at 1920 x 1200 with 4xAA and 16xAF.
A quick comparison:
- HD5870 scores roughly P19000+ in 3D Mark Vantage, and 18 fps in the Heaven benchmark.
- GTX480 scores roughly P21000+ in 3D Mark Vantage, and 30 fps in the Heaven benchmark.
