ATi Radeon 4770 slides leaked
The 4770 is ATi’s upcoming 40 nm GPU (due in May according to the rumors), and according to leaked slides which appear genuine, it’s positioned as a competitor to the 9800 GT, at a lower price of $99. The slides show performance gains over said nVidia card ranging between 10%-50%.
Perhaps even more interesting is the section about Stalker Clear Sky, demonstrating higher quality shadowing and MSAA, along with a performance gain from DX10.1. This combined with claims of other DX10.1 titles showing performance gains (Battleforge, HAWX and Stormrise), could start making DX10.1 a desired feature. Implementations in many earlier DX10.1 games were less than stellar, to say the least.
If the 4770 is faster than the 9800 GT at a price point of $99, it’d surely cause nVidia to lower their prices. I cannot wait to see high-end 40 nm parts from both vendors.
