AVG 8 Issue With Windows XP User32.dll Solved
AVG 8.0 released an update recently that caused the free virus scanner to wrongfully detect the Windows XP system file, user32.dll, as being infected. This has been declared as a false positive by AVG Technologies, the software’s publisher.
Removing the file causes the system to be unable to boot. It is reported that the problem has only affected the Spanish, French, Italian, Dutch and Portuguese versions of Windows XP.
There has since been an official fix released for the problem which is available directly from AVG Technologies here.
Another fix was also released for users that do not have a Windows XP installation CD and can be had here.
It is unclear why this happened in the first place but it is good to see that users have been provided with a solution.
for me, the best scanner is avast antivirus and kaspersky. they can really find those annoying malwares”;-
