Catalyst 10.11 Performance Analysis
Benchmarks and Conclusion
Here are the charts comparing performance across the AMD Radeon drivers released in the last three months, 10.9, 10.10 and 10.11. The benchmarks are self explanatory with average frame rates (or scores) compared directly to each other. Wins are in red and if there is a tie, both results are coloured.
At this point, it is safe to conclude that the AMD Catalyst 10.11 driver is where you want to be for Radeon performance. With improvements in several titles over 10.9 and 10.10, we see this driver being solid.
Please note that as AMD has now officially done away with the ATI name, the Catalyst 10.10 was the last ATI driver. Sad to see it go after so many years but we are now compelled to embrace the future and the new name. The Catalyst 10.11 driver set is the first to carry the AMD name and as such is officially called the AMD Catalyst 10.11 drivers. There is even a new splash screen, as seen below.
Without a widespread representation, it is important for me to say that this performance improvement should continue across the rest of the 5000 series, given that the HD 5830 is a good basis on which to draw such a conclusion.
Bottom Line: Catalyst 10.11 is the best performing AMD driver set at the moment.
Check back later this month as we look to analyze the performance of Catalyst 10.12 versus the 10.11 drivers. Until then, happy gaming!

Thank you for doing this on a consistent basis, it’s very useful.
May I throw in my usual begging to add Starcraft 2 as a benchmark? It’s not only very popular, it’s heavily GPU bound. A test case with a massive battle between some maxed out armies would be great.
