CM Storm Sniper: Black Edition Review
Interior (continued)
Cooler Master’s tool-less installation is yet again very evident as you can see and I must say that I enjoy using it very much. Simple and intuitive, it serves its purpose well, securing all drives firmly and easily.
On the case floor there is a mount for an optional 140mm fan to be placed. A 120mm fan can also be used. It is recommended that this area be used as an air intake. Quite rightly so, as there is a pre-installed dust filter.
At the top, there is another 200mm fan and this is for exhausting hot air from the case. I have always liked roof mounted exhaust fans for the simple reason that as many of you know, hot air rises; so if the hot air inside the case is rising, what better way to extract it than at the top?
Now for a section that will please many. Users of gaming monstrosities, known as high-end GPUs, of the longer variety will be happy to know that this case will accommodate just about any video card setup!
Recently, AlienBabelTech made the world aware of an upcoming video card release, known as the ATI Radeon HD 5970. This behemoth reportedly measures an enormous 13.5” long. It has since then been released and it really only measures 12” but it remains to be seen what becomes of that 13.5” giant of a card.
For those of you that are interested in obtaining one (or two), you will need a case that will be able to contain this beast; without of course the inconvenience of having to shift drives around or having to whip out the Dremel. If so, look no further, the CM Storm Sniper Black has a total clearance of 14 inches!!
Need I say more? The only other thing I will do is conclude.
Another excellent case review from you, Leon.
Wow, thanks BFG. I do try.
Nice review, but for the money this one cost, you could get an awesome full tower case.
Cool review. I just bought this case last week and couldn’t be happier. The airflow is just.. amazing. The only thing I don’t get is why they made it black on the inside but don’t offer a windowed version in the US (you have to buy the window from them AFTER you buy the case..).
Thanks. I’m glad you like the review.
As for the windowed side panel, keep in mind that from the outset it was supposed to only be available in selected markets. Also, the mesh version is what you would call the ‘default’.
Not sure about their reasoning but that is how they decided to market it.
