Cooler Master Sileo 500 Review
Exterior
The exterior of the Sileo 500 is smooth and really easy on the eyes. The case is made from steel with a few plastic parts and has a brushed aluminium front bezel. The physical appearance of the chassis comes with the normalcy of most cases nowadays. There is nothing spectacular about the design but it remains very functional.
- Front View
There is no side window but that would not be practical anyway because the acoustic foam sound insulation is installed on the sides as well as the top and bottom of the chassis. So that is not a con in this ‘case’. The front of the case features a comprehensive I/O panel. It includes two USB ports, audio, microphone and an external SATA (e-SATA) port.
- Front Input/Output Panel
Below the front I/O panel, there are three LEDs. The top two double as the Power and Reset buttons respectively. The third one is the hard drive activity LED.
- LEDs for Power, Reset & HDD
There are thumb screws on the left side panel but there are regular screws on the right panel. It is understandable because the left side is the one that is removed most of the time anyway but I think that Cooler Master should have just used thumb screws on both side panels.
- Different screws on either side panel
Although this part is internal…we can see it from the outside because the case is empty…
- PSU Anti-Vibration Pads
It is nice to see anti-vibration pads for the power supply unit. It is good to see that Cooler Master did not overlook this very practical piece of the silent puzzle. Here is a shot of the PSU installed.
- Power Supply Unit (PSU)
The plastic feet are okay and are pretty much standard on most cases. However for silence, rubber feet may have been a better choice.

Cooler Master sucks!
I really don’t see the point why the supposably well-respected companies have to cheat their customer like this!
I recently bought the PC chassis Sileo 500 by Cooler Master. In all the official pictures the case was presented with metallic silver pads at the base. Instead you get some cheap plastic/rubber pads that’s totally unappealing. Thank God you cannot even see them instead of the glorious demonstration of the fancy ones over the official site (and otherwise). At least the company can judge what is ugly and makes the choice to cleverly hide it. Prise to that Cooler Master!
You can of course argue that this is a minor detail but always just always on those situations you get less to what you see. I can understand the cheap technique of having plastic mimic brushed aluminium but not the so striking changes where you get something totally different and always of lower quality both in terms of material and looks. I really don’t see the point why companies act like that. While they succeeded in making me buy this product (by making a fool out of myself) they totally failed earning more money since I was planning to get more products from them. And of course the even bigger damage to their profit is that I do not find a reason which I should suggest Cooler Master to friends. So they loose even more money with those kind of cheap advertisement techniques.
Bye bye Cooler Master (Cooler Sucker rather). I was planning of getting a PSU and CPU fun also from the same company with triple the price tag of the chassis itself but never gonna happen.
Stay away if you have some self respect and want to be treated as a proud honer of a decent product. Never gonna make the same mistake twice.
