Cooler Master’s Comforter Air – built for your lap top
The Packing & Contents
The Cooler Master Comforter Air is minimally packaged to sell itself by advertising its features on the label and it is an excellent introduction to their new product. The Comforter Air comes shrink-wrapped in shiny plastic which does not photograph well. Here it is minus the plastic wrapping:
The first thing that one notices about the Comforter Air is that it is extremely lightweight – hence the name, “air”. We notice from the label that it will keep notebooks up to 15.6″ cool and sitting comfortably and securely on your lap:Cooler Master uses a 100mm fan for the Comforter Air that is removable, and it is reversible to allow for intake or exhaust.
We only tested with the fan blowing cool air into the notebook from below, its default shipping position.
The Comforter Air allows for working with a notebook PC easily even while sitting in bed or on a couch as this image from Cooler Master’s site illustrates. It promises much and now we will give our impressions of working with it and testing it in daily use.
More Features & Specifications:
The Comforter Air is designed for notebook PCs as large as 15.6″. Here are the Comforter Air’s features as found on Cooler Master’s web site:
Since many notebooks lack sufficient USB connectors, it is unfortunate that the Comforter Air requires one of them to power its cooling fan without including a pass-through.
The surface of the Comforter Air grips and holds even the maximum size 15.6″ notebooks securely. It also stays very steady on the fabric of clothing very well, but it will slide off of bare legs easily.
On either side (below), you can that there is room underneath the Comforter Air to draw cool air in from below to cool the notebook PC. Wires can pass easily below the cooler for cable management when it is used on a desk.
The 100mm cooling fan is very quiet and you will probably not hear it over the notebook cooling fans. Now that we have seen how the Comforter Air works and looks, we turn to the most important part of a notebook cooler – its ability to cool and in this case, to provide comfort for its owner.
