Crysis Investigation
Test 3: Individual Settings, Part 2 (Vista)
As with XP, these settings cover the more dynamic settings that only impact the scene depending on what the player and/or enemies are doing.
This time, we compare all settings to very high quality and then set one setting at a time to low to see what the performance impact is. Again we use the CPU1 benchmark built into Crysis.
It’s pretty obvious from these results that both platforms and GPUs are impacted by the first set of settings far more than by these. While physics and particles help a bit, they only help if such things are happening on the screen rather than the first set of settings that tend to have a bigger impact regardless of the scene. So if you’re trying to tweak the game to run better under a wide range of conditions, it’s better to start with the settings we used in part 1.
