Fermi rumored to be delayed again
Although Nvidia revealed it’s next generation “Fermi” architecture last September at the GPU Technology Conference, which we covered in ample detail here, here and here, we are yet to see any credible benchmarks nor have any AIBs received any samples yet. The rumors are coming hot from the big get-together of a lot of top executives in Hong Kong last week. Nvidia was supposed to have passed on the “First build kits” of the new cards to the AIBs. But according to the rumors Nvidia missed that mark. This means that Nvidia’s most likely aim of shipping Fermi based video cards in the last week of February would be shifted to April 2010 according to the speculation. An interesting bit came out of the get together, which is the touting of the ‘Gemini’ name. Although it is not known what this will likely be, but according to speculation this could be Nvidia’s next gen dual GPU video card.
Consumers hoping to buy Nvidia’s new video cards will surely be disappointed. We hope Nvidia will come out with their new video cards, in order to reinvigorate some competition in the market.
