Galaxy’s GTX 760 GC Mini – overclocking in a small package
Performance summary charts & graphs
Here are the summary charts of 22 modern PC games and 3 synthetic tests. The highest settings are generally chosen and it is DX11 when there is a choice; DX10 is picked above DX9, and the settings are generally ultra or maxed unless specified on the chart. Specific settings are listed on the Main Performance chart. The benches are run at 1920×1200 and at 2560×1600.
Main Overall Summary chart
The main summary chart is what we call ABT’s “Big Picture” as it shows performance from the GTX 750 Ti all the way up to the GTX 780 Ti and R9 290X.
In the first column of the main performance summary chart are the performance results for the GTX 750 Ti. Some of the detail setting have been lowered as noted on the chart. The second column is stock GTX 760 results followed by the Galaxy GTX 760 GC Mini in the third column, and our further overclocked Mini results in the fourth. The fifth column compares the PowerColor R9 270X performance numbers, while the sixth and seventh columns are devoted to the GTX 770 and its competitor, the PowerColor R9 280X PCS+ card. The final two columns show the GTX 780 Ti versus the PowerColor R9 290X at stock Uber speeds and the detail setting have been raised for these two cards in some games as noted on the chart.
UPDATE 4/27/14
Sleeping Dogs was able to complete the benchmarks and it was not a driver issue as we originally suspected. Using Extreme AA, the R9 290X at Uber speeds recorded 38.1 fps at 2560×1600 and 68.7 fps at 1920×1080.. The R9 280X recorded 55.7 fps at 2560×1600 and 98.4 fps at 1920×1080 using the lesser AA setting, and the R9 270 achieved 41.8 fps at 2560×1600 and 76.3 fps at 1920×1080.
In all cases, the Galaxy GTX 760 GC Mini is faster than the stock GTX 760 and it further pulls away in performance as it is further overclocked. In almost all cases, the Galaxy GTX 760 GC Mini is faster than the PowerColor R9 270X PCS+.
Since the main performance chart has a lot of information, here is a sub-chart detailing the GTX 760 at reference, Galaxy Clocks, and overclocked further, compared with the much more expensive GTX 770.
Overclocking brings good scaling to the GTX 760 and there is a performance improvement from each clock increase. In a few instances, the further overclocked Galaxy GTX 760 GC Mini comes fairly close to the much more expensive GTX 770.
Let’s head for our conclusion.
