Google Announces Chrome OS
Google has announced that they are working on an operating system (OS) of their own. While separate from their Android project, Chrome (as it will be called) will first be targeting netbooks. Millions of people are already familiar with the name Chrome because of Google’s free browser. Interesting times are ahead. Stay tuned for more information as it reaches our newsroom.
Google Chrome OS is an open source, lightweight operating system that will initially be targeted at netbooks. Later this year we will open-source its code, and netbooks running Google Chrome OS will be available for consumers in the second half of 2010.
