High Performance Gaming on a Budget: Building a Value PC with Cooler Master’s Gladiator 600 Case
Final verdict
What can we say? After a month living with the Gladiator 600, we love it!
Let’s sum up the many positives verses our two minor negative nitpicks:
Positive:
* Excellent airflow
* Superior cooling performance
* Well-managed interior space
* Excellent cable management system with intelligent cutouts for easy CPU removal and installation
* Easy customization for adding additional cooling fans
* Tool-free design and user friendly
* Dust filters are included for the power supply and front intake fan
* Two-year warranty … and much more!
Negatives:
* Screwless system for mainboard in the form of plastic clips are too weak and easily breakable
* Dust filters are not included for the side case fan openings
These nitpicks are just that. Cooler Master includes black screws so you can completely ignore the plastic clips and you can easily make your own dust filters. In addition, to save money, you can certainly paint the interior if you so choose. This is a great value case. Cooler Master has saved money in exactly the right places to suit most enthusiasts who want great looks, style and excellent air-cooling without breaking their bank.
Cooler Master’s Gladiator 600 deserves our “Great Value” award – and more. In fact, we are creating a brand-new ABT award category just for it and for those rare special products that really stand out so as to be highly recommended in their class:
–Kick ass!!
Many thanks for following our adventures in building a value PC. Our very special thanks also go out to Cooler Master for working with us and supplying us with their Gladiator 600 case, their Hyper N212 CPU cooler and the Silent Power 600 M PSU (which we will be reviewing shortly).
We are now done with the Introduction and Part One of our value series. However, we are going to break tradition and sequence and bring you next, the highlight of our PC building adventure – the benchmarks for Athlon II 250 X2 vs. Phenom II 550 X2 vs Phenom II 720 X3 vs. Q9550s. Two video cards – GTX 280 and HD 4870-X2 – are each tested at two resolutions, 1920×1200 and 1680×1050, with 16 gaming benchmarks. Each of the four CPUs is tested at their stock clock and also at their maximum overclock; Q9550S also gets an additional run at 3.1 GHz.
Stay tuned, we were very much surprised at our results and we think you might be also.
