Imagina 2010: Vertice unveils NOVA 2010, the new version of its real time 3D engine
We first met Vertice and NOVA at NVIDIA’s GPU Technology Conference (GTC), September 30 through October 2 which we covered here. Using the GPU to accelerate it, Nova 2009 is a real-time 3D engine that allows users to display high quality virtual scenes.
It runs under Microsoft Windows environments and is currently based on DirectX 8.1 and 9.0c technology. As in a video game, it allows users to get into its virtual environment in order to interact with its content. Its application fields are many: architecture, simulation, installation, virtual presentations, products marketing, as well as the car, train, aviation, and manufacturing industries.
Imagina 2010 is the international 3D Market for professionals. The event will take place in Monaco from February, 3th to February, 5th. The Vertice Team will exhibit at stand I27. At Imagina 2010, Vertice will unveil NOVA 2010, its new real-time 3D engine.
Major innovations in NOVA 2010 include:
• Support of DirectX 10 with support of the shaders 4.0: the move to DirectX 10 (Nova keeping a full compatibility with DirectX9) offers an improvement of the performances and of its visual qualities while giving access to new graphic options. The use of the shaders 4.0 allows in particular more speed for the shadows, the particles, the bones and to get high-resolution textures.
• New real-time shadows engine: this new engine was completely redesigned to bring more precision and more simplicity when setting up. It is also more powerful and adds the support of the true soft shadows.
• Extension of Nova Web Player to IE, Firefox, Opera, Safari and Chrome. The installation of the plugin was simplified and the Nova Web Player now runs under DirectX 9 and DirectX 10.
• New import formats issued from 3D softwares: NOVA 2010 opens from now FBX, DXF, OBJ and 3DS formats in addition to DAE and. X formats. NOVA 2010 also manages the customized importers as plugins.
NOVA 2010 will be officially available at the beginning of April.
