Introducing Galaxy’s GTS 450 SuperOverclock
Unreal Tournament 3 (UT3)
Unreal Tournament 3 (UT3) is the fourth game in the Unreal Tournament series. UT3 is a first-person shooter and online multiplayer video game by Epic Games. Unreal Tournament 3 provides a good balance between image quality and performance, rendering complex scenes well even on lower-end PCs. Of course, on high-end graphics cards you can really turn up the detail. UT3 is primarily an online multiplayer title offering several game modes and it also includes an offline single-player game with a campaign. For our tests, we used the very latest game patch for Unreal Tournament 3, released after its ‘Titan’ pack.
The game doesn’t have a built-in benchmarking tool, so we used FRAPS and did a fly-by of a chosen level. Here we note that performance numbers reported are a bit higher than compared to in-game. The map we use is called “Containment” and it is one of the most demanding of the fly-bys. Our tests were run at resolutions of 1440x 900 and 1680 x 1050 with UT3’s in-game graphics options set to their maximum values. One drawback of the way the UT3 engine is designed is that there is no support for anti-aliasing built in so we forced 4xAA in each vendor’s control panel for our 1920×1080 resolution runs. We record a demo in the game and a set number of frames are saved in a file for playback. When playing back the demo, the game engine then renders the frames as quickly as possible, which is why you will often see it playing it back more quickly than you would actually play the game.
Here is Containment Demo, first at 1440×900 with fully maxed settings and without AA:
There are no issues playing this game with any of our cards although the GTS 450 SOC is the fastest.
One definitely needs to force AA in the vendor’s control panels to give any of our video cards a challenge. In the following chart at 1920×1080, we do see a solid performance hit going from 1xAA to 4xAA on GTS 450 although the minimums are never in danger. We also see that SLI scaling is not as good as in some of the newer games that we have evaluated.
There is absolutely no problem playing this game fully maxed out with our three top graphics configurations at 1920×1080. However, the GTX 480 dominates, followed by the HD 5870 and then followed up by our pair of GTS 450s in SLI.
It’s a phenomenal review!! I loved how you compared it with a 5750 and my old 8800GTX, plus how you did 450’s in SLI versus 5870 and GTX 480. And the fully-rounded arsenal of games is icing on the cake!
Awesome review, very cool that you added 8800GTX. I was considering swapping mine out for the 450 originally.
i used the mother board MSI 880GM-E43 and A video card GTS 450 my question is what power supply should we used the 600W or 800W pls help me coz got problem in my video card the fan run slowly i just buy it now i used 600w power supply but my game got black screen everytime i play after 2minuts
This is a question best asked and answered in our forums:

However, either PSU is probably sufficient if they are of reasonable quality and not defective. The card’s fan speed is variable, depending on the temperatures. Use Galaxy’s Xtreme HD Tuner or EVGA precision tool to monitor temperatures.
Happy to find out until this website successful in my iPhone , anything I would like to perform is actually functional. Thanks for keeping up to date with the most up-to-date.
