Introducing Galaxy’s GTS 450 SuperOverclock
CRYSIS
Next we move on to Crysis, a science fiction first person shooter by Crytek. It remains one of the most demanding games for any PC and it is also still one of the most beautiful games released to date. Crysis is based in a fictional near-future where an alien spacecraft is discovered buried on an island near the coast of Korea. The single-player campaign has you assume the role of USA Delta Force, ‘Nomad’ who is armed with futuristic weapons and equipment. Crysis uses DirectX10 for graphics rendering. A standalone but related game, Crysis Warhead was released last year. CryEngine2 is the game engine used to power Crysis and Warhead and it is an extended version of the CryEngine that also powers FarCry. As well as supporting Shader Model 2.0, 3.0, and DirectX10’s 4.0, CryEngine2 is also multi-threaded to take advantage of dual core SMP-aware systems and Crytek has developed their own proprietary physics system, called CryPhysics. However, it is noted that actually playing this game is a bit slower than the demo implies.
GPU Demo, Island
All of our settings for the midrange video cards are set to “high” without AA and we force 16xAF in the control panels. Here is Crysis’ Island Demo benchmark, first at 1440×900 resolution:
The HD 5750 sits in between the stock and the overclocked GTS 450s. Enabling 2xAA on the stock GTS 450 takes about a ten percent performance hit and the 8800 GTX again shows its age. Let’s move on to 1680×1050 and check out GTX 450 SLI:
This time, at the higher resolution even the stock GTS 450 takes the lead over the HD 5750. GTS 450 SLI scales very nicely from 32 to 62 FPS. Let’s see how our budget videocards in SLI do against GTX 480 and HD 5870 at the highest details, “Very High”, with 2xAA enabled and at 1920×1080.
The Radeon HD 5870 just edges out the GTX 480 by less than a single frame in Crysis average benchmark and GTS 450 SLI cannot quite compete with these cards.
It’s a phenomenal review!! I loved how you compared it with a 5750 and my old 8800GTX, plus how you did 450’s in SLI versus 5870 and GTX 480. And the fully-rounded arsenal of games is icing on the cake!
Awesome review, very cool that you added 8800GTX. I was considering swapping mine out for the 450 originally.

However, either PSU is probably sufficient if they are of reasonable quality and not defective. The card’s fan speed is variable, depending on the temperatures. Use Galaxy’s Xtreme HD Tuner or EVGA precision tool to monitor temperatures.
Happy to find out until this website successful in my iPhone , anything I would like to perform is actually functional. Thanks for keeping up to date with the most up-to-date.
