Let’s check out H.A.W.X. 2 with our GTX 590 at 1920×1200, 2560×1600 and 5760×1080 and with fully maxed out in-game ultra settings, terrain tessellation and with 8xAA.

We see the Core i7-920 platform flying away from the Phenom II X4 980 BE at 1920×1200 and yet there is zero practical playing difference at any resolution and the Intel advantage goes down as the resolution increases.
