Latest news on iOS 7 and iPhone 5s
September is just right around the corner and it will be the month Apple traditionally launches its new iPhone along with the new iOS.
This month alone has been filled with picture leaks, rumored specs, and now even gold cases. Yes, “GOLD” cases! We knew Apple liked the new colors in the past, but now evidently even more so with the unofficial announcement of the iPhone 5c and the different color choices.
Let us review the latest news on both the iPhone 5s and iOS 7 with possibly a September launch.
Rumor has it that Apple will offer a third color option for the iPhone 5s. The picture above comes from MacBoutic via Engadget but we notice there is no Apple logo nor top/bottom panels.
Without a logo, we cannot determine if this picture is real, but KGI analyst Ming-Chi Kuo, a tipster for AppleInsider, claims that Apple is prepping a “Golden casing” iPhone 5s with 128GB built-in storage.
It would be odd to see Apple release a gold iPhone after years of offering only black or white devices, but the rumor of a new color has been growing lately. Only time will tell if Apple will go in this direction.
Another report obtained by AppleInsider from KGI’s analyst Ming-Chi Kuo offers his predictions of what the internals of the device will be.
– A7 SoC designed with 1GB of LPDDR3 Ram, based on ARMv8 architecture. Efficiency may be increased by up to 20%
– The rear facing camera would get a larger f2.0 aperture lens with dual LED flash
– Sapphire glass home button for finger print scanner
– 128GB storage option, aside from the normal 16Gb and 32Gb options
– No NFC
Some of the specs rumored to be updated from previous iPhone 5 seems likely because Apple usually upgrades specific internals from one phone to the next. Since Apple controls both hardware and software, we can only imagine how smooth the operating system will be running.
iPhone 5s w/iOS 7 launch date:
This past Thursday night, registered iOS developers received the beta 6 update. The update is available OTA for current beta testers and it can be downloaded via Apple’s Dev Center. The update introduced a bug fix where “issue with iTunes in the Cloud, where some purchases may download or play unexpected item”.
Although we are closer to GM (gold master) iOS 7, with the sixth edition of the beta out now, we ask when could the GM be released? BGR suggests that September 10th will be the release day and five days earlier on the 5th, for Apple employees and partners.
September 10th may also be a special date because sources coming from AllThingsD who have been accurate in the past with other Apple announcements, say that the iPhone 5s and iPhone 5c will be unveiled.
As of today, there is no official Apple invite sent out to the media, so we cannot automatically assume that the 10th of September will be the unveiling.
Our Final thoughts:
Well we gave you a lot to speculate about – from gold iPhones and spec rumors to unofficial release dates. It is possible that Apple will be unveiling “something” next month because the iPhone 5 was introduced to us last September on the 14th and launched on the 21st.
So what are your thoughts on the new iPhone and do you really think it will come in gold casting?
