Mionix Naos 5000 Gaming Mouse Review
Closer Look

The first thing you will notice is that the packaging is eye-catching. The picture and description on the front are nice on their own but one thing about the box itself stands out. It is held shut by a magnet and is just super nice to play with. After getting over this little fascination with the box, what greets you inside is a well thought out “Cool!” The mouse and weight box are held in place under the protective plastic and it just simply looks great and is well presented.
When you remove the unit from the packaging, you feel the smooth rubbery grip surface of the mouse and its many contours. Holding the mouse in your hand is a real treat. The design allows for all five fingers to be slotted onto it in a palm grip setup. It is very comfortable to use and I am sure that comfort is a top priority for almost every user.

Upon closer inspection, we realize that there is a lot more to this mouse than meets the eye. The usual left and right click buttons flank the scroll wheel, which doubles as the middle click button. These have become the standard on not just gaming mice but on all mice.

Now there are several neat features that we take for granted nowadays that still deserve mention. First and foremost are the two thumb buttons on the left side of the device (which are also becoming a norm). These buttons make Internet browsing an absolute pleasure. They allow you to go back and move forward through your pages without having to move the cursor to your toolbar.
Next, there are two buttons located near the scroll wheel that are (by default) used for changing the DPI settings up or down. This is very convenient especially when you need to change the mouse sensitivity quickly; especially in a game.
There are four large mouse feet on the Naos 500 and they are made of Polytetrafluoroethyl (PTFE). This allows for an extremely smooth experience when sliding the mouse around.
The weight system employed on this device is very good. You can add up to 40g more weight to it in eight 5g increments. It is also possible to make one side of the mouse heavier than the other for more ‘swing’ in your movements to one side or the other. I found this to be practical in some applications and games. It is a very neat feature having the weights on either side; it streamlines the way the mouse feels when weight is added so that it doesn’t feel back-heavy.

These features are all great but most of all, they are packed in without taking away the simplicity of just using the mouse. While the hardware is definitely impressive, there is even more to be said about the software, as it is at the heart of this device’s customization and functional prowess.
Looks like a great mouse, mine is 5 years old and I think it’s finally time to upgrade.
It really is a nice mouse. I enjoyed reviewing it.
I have ordered mine already and it’ll be here maybe today or tomorrow. Can’t wait 😀
Great! Be sure to let us know how you like it.
This is a bit late but I got my mouse and I have been using it for more than two weeks.
This is the best mouse I have ever had, it fits very well in your hand, very accurate and offers many features.
My only con about it (which when I contacted Mionix they said they’re working on it) is the driver, i.e; no support for Windows 64 bit.
Tried it on a different OS supporting 32 bit and it works like a charm.
I had no problems running it on Windows 7 x64 (64-bit). I’m not sure what could have really caused your issues.
Yes! Now the drivers are working on Win x64. Some random Windows update fixed the issue.
I’m having a total blast with this mouse.
Good to know you like it. I’m just glad that my review could have helped you to make your decision. =)
Hope to see you soon in the forum.
THE ICE AGE!
Razer Quality sucks, but still Great mice they do. That’s not the theme I just had to say it eventhough it’s well known. Mionix beats Razer in anyway except for the fact that razer has two of the best gaming mice ever (in my opinion and at least when it’s about the first mouse I’m about to tell you, also in the opinion of tons of other people) which would be the Deathadder2013, which is a great mouse. Precise and great for fps. The other would be the Imperator, but the Imperator has a huge lack in quality since mine broke very fast and the sensor isn’t that precise, but it still is a great thing for most games. For me it’s like the alround mouse. If it goes to mmorpg I guess I would also pick a Razer product which would be the Razer Naga, but I’ve never tested it, since I’m also very very happy with the Anker 8,2k DPI (which are definitly way too much) mouse. But the shape is great for big hands and the keys are easy to press and with that you have 4-5 makro keys on your mouse which isn’t bad, but mice like the Razer Naga come with more.
A further issue is that video gaming became one of the all-time biggest forms of entertainment for people of various age groups. Kids have fun with video games, plus adults do, too. The actual XBox 360 is among the favorite gaming systems for folks who love to have a lot of activities available to them, and who like to play live with other people all over the world. Thanks for sharing your ideas.
