nVidia 260.99 Driver Test
Introduction
This article will test the performance of nVidia’s driver 260.99 against 258.96 using a GTX480.
Here are the current driver issues that I have detected:
- The “use my display’s built-in scaling” option is grayed out on my LP3065. Previous 19x.xx drivers displayed this option just fine.
- Quake 3, Jedi Knight 2 and Call of Duty United Offensive are very dark. The console has the error message “SetDeviceGammaRamp failed”.
- Descent 3 under Direct3D mode has massive artifacting in the menu and briefing screens, and also around the crosshairs when in-game.
- Undying hangs with a black screen at startup when any 32 bit color mode is attempted. 16 bit color modes initialize fine.
- The enhance feature is not working in DX10/DX11, and in certain DX9 titles like Serious Sam HD.
- Poor performance in several titles relative to the GTX285, such as Unreal Tournament 2004, Call of Duty 4, Quake Dark Places and Quake 2 Berserker.
Thanks for the heads-up on this 260.99 driver release. With all of the new issues, I’d be hesitant with updating to this!
