Nvidia demonstrates Windows 7 “Drag & Drop” video encoding using GPU for portable devices
Nvidia demonstrated a new Windows 7 feature at the ongoing Computex in Taipei. Using Windows 7 you can just drag a video from your PC to your portable device and the OS will encode the video before transferring it to the device. They had two similar systems setup, one of which was an ION based system. The ION system ended up transferring the video to the device 5 times faster than the other Intel’s Atom based system. What remains to be seen is if the user is able to select the quality and settings for the encoding.
