Nvidia comes out blazing with it’s Battlebox-platform
Nvidia has introduced it’s Battlebox-platform, made up out of high-end gaming machines with at least two GTX 780 videocards and a Intel Haswell-CPU. System builders have to adhere to several rules before they can slap on a Battlebox logo. All Battlebox-systems come with an exclusive SLI-bridge with Nvidia’s Claw-logo on it, which lights up green in the same way the GTX 780 and the Titan do with the GeForce logo on their sides.
Battlebox specifications
The green team seems to be targeting consoles and 4K-gaming in particular. Battleboxes should be able to play any upcoming and already released games at 3840×2160 pixels, whilst delivering ‘console-destroying’ graphics. Games mentioned in particular are Batman: Arkham Origins, Assassin’s Creed IV: Black Flag, Watch Dogs and Call of Duty: Ghosts.
Each Battlebox comes equipped with a Core i5- or Core i7-CPU from Intel’s Haswell line-up and two or more GTX 780s or GTX Titans. Two of Nvidia’s fastest video cards should ensure smooth sailing in nearly any game. As of now, Nvidia has teamed up with several system builders, including Maingear, Falcon Northwest, and Origin, amongst others.
Those willing to buy a 4K monitor will have to look towards the Asus PQ31Q, a 31.5 inch monitor with said resolution of 3840×2160 pixels. Besides it’s ridiculously high resolution, it also comes with a plethora of interfaces, including dual HDMI 1.4-ports and DisplayPort 1.2. The panel itself is made by Sharp who utilizes it’s Igzo-technology to achieve low-power consumption, accurate colors and a very thin body.
