Nvidia’s Dawn is back . . and available for download!
On the ten year anniversary of the original Dawn tech demo, Nvidia’s “A New Dawn” showcases the latest graphics advancements in hair, skin, and environment rendering. The original Dawn demo was the first to show a fully credible 3D character in real time while the subsequent Nalu demo added detailed, physically simulated hair. The Adrianne Curry demo pushed the limits of realism in skin shading.
“A New Dawn demo” is a synthesis of all of these demos showcasing a decade of techniques and advancement made in the realm of real-time 3D graphics. It may not look ten times as good as the original, but there are no tradeoffs, such as eliminating the environment and using the GPU to render a single character. This new Dawn lives in a rich and complex world in which over four million triangles are used to showcase Dawn’s environment.
Based on fan feedback, “A New Dawn” has been tweaked to run on both single Kepler GPUs and SLI configurations. It is recommended to run on at least a GTX 670
