OCZ Z-Drive Now Available
OCZ Technology showed off their new Z-Drive at Cebit 2009 and it received quite a bit of buzz. The drive’s interface is PCI-Express 8X and the 1TB model promises data transfer speeds of 500/470MB per second for read/write respectively. Amazing transfer speed but at also an apparently amazing price tag…EUR3399.99 according to this French website (translated to English).
There are two other models. The 500GB model with read/write speeds of 510/480MB per second (EUR2199.99) and the 250GB model with 450/300MB (EUR1399.99).
The drives measure 245 x 124 x 22mm and features 256MB ECC cache. The Z-Drive weighs 450g and also comes with a built-in fan to help cool the drive.
Impressive performance at an impressive price point. I guess the saying is true that “you get what you pay for”.
We at ABT would love to get our hands on these to provide some more information and diagnostic test results for our valued readers but until then feel free to sign up on our forum to discuss this and other news/topics.
