Patriot’s Fusion Solid-State Drives get renamed as Torqx SSDs.
Patriot has announced that its previously announced Fusion SSDs will undergo a name change. The new name shall be Torqx. These drives ship in capacities of 256 GB, 128 GB, 64 GB, feature 64 MB DRAM cache and use MLC Flash technology from Samsung. The 128GB and 256GB solid-state drives offer impressive 260MB/s read, and 180MB/s write speeds, whereas the 64GB version offers 220MB/s read and 135MB/s write speed. Patriot said that it would include a special bracket with its Torqx and Warp SSDs that allow to install these 2.5” flash-based storage devices into standard desktop 3.5” bays.
"With SSD technologies becoming more ‘mainstream’ in the consumer market, Patriot’s goal is to give their customers discretion across their purchasing preferences," says Meng J. Choo, Patriot’s Flash Product Manager. "In these tough economic times, consumers are looking for options; our goal is to give them that opportunity to add new technology, and have no reservations about their decisions."
