PengPod 1040 Crowd funding announced- Triple Boot Android, GNU/Linux, and Ubuntu Touch
PengPod, the company that gave us the first commercial dual-booting tablet, is launching a crowd-funding campaign for their new PengPod 1040.
The PengPod 1040 is a 9.7” tablet with an ultra-high definition 2048×1536 LCD screen, 16GB of flash memory, 1.2 GHz Quad Core CPU, 2 GB DDR3, and more. The biggest selling point on this device is its open-source platform and out of the box triple-boot offering. PengPod 1040 has the ability to boot Android, GNU/Linux and Ubuntu Touch simultaneously.
The PengPod 1040 could be a market changing tablet. The ability to go from casual Android gaming to full fledged PC work on a Linux boot or Ubuntu Touch would be incredible. As the developer mentions in the presentation video, the tablet would be an open-source tablet making it completely customizable.
An Indiegogo crowd funding goal of $349,000 must be met in order for the tablet to go into production, and we really hope that it does.
An early bird special is available at $220 for a PengPod 1040. Those who are not early birds can pick one up for just $249. Volume ordering is needed in order for the software and tablet to be viable and developed within the community, thus the crowd funding.
Full specs and information for the PengPod 1040 are over at PengPod.
