We finally get to see some gameplay for Grand Theft Auto V. Featuring: “mountains and oceans, expensive stores and strip malls, urban decay and untouched wilderness, beaches and backwoods, the sublime and the ridiculous, greed and hypocrisy.”
Rockstar is changing a lot of mechanics we have become accustomed to in a GTA game. There are three main characters in GTA V, all living separate but intertwined lives:
Michael – “A once successful bank robber, and now less successful family man”
Franklin – “A hungry street hustler convinced he’s surrounded by morons”
Trevor – “The less said about him the better”
Rockstar is introducing a mechanic seen in many other games where the player can switch to any character at any time. Rockstar calls it “switching vantage points.”
In the trailer, the player is also seen switching from one player to the next when not on a mission. Each individual character is seen doing something different and dynamic with those around them. This new gameplay mechanic along with the huge open world of GTA V should be very interesting.
What is left to be seen is if the world will “live” while the player is not even playing the game like Animal Crossing.
Along with the main storyline missions there will be many things to see and do.
Cars to customize, planes to fly, clothes to buy, sports to play, nirvanas to pursue, oceans to dive, animals to spot, hunt and be hunted by, freaks to watch, meet and befriend, bounties to hunt, and on and on.
Rockstar mentions that there has been a huge focus on mechanics this time around. The focus on GTA V’s mechanics is to make everything feel fluid, fun, and responsive.
In GTA V, the player chooses who they take on a mission and how they use the money each character has aquires. A character could invest in stocks, realty, cars, tattoos, and more.
This trailer is nothing but a surface look at GTA V. Rockstar even teases “Grand Theft Auto: Online” at the end of the gameplay trailer.
GTA V will be released on September 17th of this year. Are you excited?
