Steam Trading Cards out of beta June 26th, Valve says “event” coming
Steam Trading Cards recently launched in May 2013. Trade offers and card binder features will not be available at launch, but will be added at a later date.
The announcment was made in a recent blog post by Valve. In the announcement Valve said that “making trading cards available to all Steam users is a step towards an event we think everyone can be excited about.”
This event could be almost anything. Recently users have data mined a Steam beta client and found code for a possible game sharing feature.
Recently some Half Life 3 mentions were found in code for DOTA 2 among other things.
This “event” could also simply be the Steam Summer Sale. Typically this is the time of year the sale should begin.
Currently Steam Trading Cards are available mostly in Valve’s game with some others.
In total there are 33 games that offer Steam Trading Cards: Borderlands 2, Sanctum 2, Don’t Starve, Counter-Strike: Global Offensive, Monaco: What’s Yours Is Mine, Left 4 Dead 2, Portal 2, Half-Life 2, Magicka, Strike Suit Infinity, Zack Zero, Bit.Trip Runner 2, Team Fortress 2, Brutal Legend, Cubemen 2, Anodyne, FTL, Super Meat Boy, Monster Loves You!, Trine 2, Go Home Dinosaurs!, Triple Town, Defender’s Quest: Valley of the Forgotten, Serious Sam 3, Tower Wars, They Bleed Pixels, Jagged Alliance – Back in Action, A.R.E.S.: Extinction Agenda, Blocks That Matter, Really Big Sky, Faerie Solitaire, Dota 2, and 1… 2… 3… Kick it!
