The Big GPU Shootout: Part I, Upgrade Now or Wait?
Call of Juarez
Call of Juarez is the first ever DX10 benchmark from Techland that was released in June 2007; the game is described as a fast-paced Wild West Epic Adventure Shooter. Call of Juarez is loosely based on Spaghetti Westerns that become popular in the early 1970s. The game features playing as two different characters: Billy ‘Candle’, a young fugitive accused of murder and his step-uncle, Reverend Ray, an ex-outlaw who turned to religion as he wields his bible and quotes fire and brimstone scripture while he blasts the enemy with his six-shooters. Reverend Ray also can enter Concentration Mode which allows him to hit multiple targets as time appears to slow down, like “bullet time” as first made popular in MaxPayne. Billy’s character provides stealth and sniper elements to the Call of Juarez With his whip, Billy can lash onto objects to get into hard to reach locations and he later acquires a bow, which can be used for long-range kills.

Here are the benchmark results for 16×10 resolution:
Things get more difficult for our older GPUs at 19×12 resolution:
Crossfire x3 refused to run reliably with this benchmark and Cat 8-8. However, we do see excellent scaling of the 4870×2 over a single 4870. And we see both videocards from the last generation struggling at 19×12 – the 2900xt mostly being unplayable at these settings – even at 16×10.
You are wrong DX 10 games are not lagging
thank you highwon
Sure they are lagging
Check out part two of my Shootout .. even top cards have issues playing some of the latest games at 19×12 resolution – fully maxed out
